  • Obituary: Nancy Evelyn Phillips - Truro It is with sadness that the family of Nancy Evelyn (Fiddes) Phillips announce her passing on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012 at the Colchester Regional Hospital at the age of 78 years. Nancy was the daughter of the late W. Alex Fiddes and Florence M. (Biswanger) Fiddes of Onslow, NS. Her working career in Truro, Pictou and Kentville included various banking positions and prior to her retirement, was the manager of the Town of Truro Housing Authority for 9 years. An avid reader and curler, Nancy was a former member of the Truro Curling Club and the New Caledonian Curling Club in Pictou. She is survived by son, Marty of Truro, daughters Naneve MacRae (Allan) of Charlottetown, PEI and Lisa of Dartmouth. She is also survived by grandsons Aaron MacRae, Halifax, Brodie MacRae (Francesca Perez), Montreal, and granddaughter Alanna MacDonald (Darren Boutilier) of Charlottetown, along with two great granddaughters, Taylor and Brianna of Charlottetown as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Surviving siblings are Helen Zwicker of Indian Point, NS and Sharon Hewitt (David) of River John, NS. She is also survived by brothers-in-law Walter Webber of Chester and Ronald MacCormick of Truro. Nancy was the sister-in-law of Eleanor Phillips of White Rock, BC, David and Halga Phillips of Red Deer, Alberta and Dr. Robin and Ruth Phillips of Valley, Col. Co. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 59 years, William Lewis (Bill) Phillips in March 2012, her parents, her-in-laws William and Violet (Lewis) Phillips, her sisters Shirley Webber, Norma MacCormick, and brothers-in-law Lawrence Yuill, Warren Zwicker and Dr. John Phillips. A celebration of her life will be held at the Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro on Saturday, October 27th from 1-3 p.m. followed by private family interment. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
